numb under and top of my big toe! Options

I am not very good with computers and have not been on the nras site for ages. I have searched till my fingers hurt and wondered if anyone could give guidance on a Saturday night when no one is around to ask.
I have numbness at the top and underneath my big toe. It has very slight tinglingling at times. This has come on this week but is worse tonight.
My toe is not blue or cold....am I just being a hyperchondriac I ask...but its not a nice feeling and not going awayConfused Sorry I cant find a spell check either!RollEyes

Hi Frances, Yes there is somebody else out there on a Saturday night but I afraid I can't help as I've not experienced this on my toes, have had some numbness just below the back of my knee on a bad flare but that was due bakers cysts. Hopefully someone else can help you.
In the meantime welcome to the forum its a great place for support and answers. Hope your toe improves soon.

Hi Francis

I had something similar with my thumbs and fingers where the tops went numb with no change of temperature or colour - Consultant says mine was carpal tunnel syndrome with swelling pressing on the median nerve. She said that if continues can be treated with a quick snip op. Could be some nerve been pressed. Are you bending your leg or wear tight shoes? I only ask as the carpal tunnel comes on if I flex my elbow and wrists. These nerves travel long distances. Mine came on as I overdid it and it went away. I would monitor it and bring it up on your next consultation. It may just go away and you many need to rest your foot up. Needless to say if it persists it would be best to get it checked out sooner than later as there is no point suffering in silence.

Hi Francis,
Glad you found us again!
I have two numb toes on my right foot, the little one and the one next to it. They have been like that for about 5 years, but I don't get any tingling in them now, I did at first.
I mentioned it to my rheumy nurse when it first started and he just dismissed it, so I asked my GP about it. He couldn't find a cause, tested me for all sorts of stuff like diabetes, etc. all negative.
He did ,however, say I was right to get it checked so you should mention it to your GP or rheumy team.

Hello Francis aww thats ok welcome back to site(i also cartn do spell check yet)

toes umm my pinky and one next to it go numb its linked to the inflammation in joints below that area pressing on nerves causing tingles,numbs bits.also sometimes big toe.

i would ask rheumy check it out,can you wiggle the toe,feel it or completley numb.
does it ocur all time or just when bend down.
does it cause sharp pains/lose balance?

id ask gp or some medic take look.
anythign consitently numb needs looking into not left.

forme the rheumy checks for any numb areas on each appointment,not sure if thats noraml procedure at other RA clinics.

Hi-I have had diabetes for 48 years and I have what you describe but mine was caused by damage from the diabetes. The stabbing pain is awful isn't it? I would definitely get it checked with your GP as it does sound like nerve damage.
YES I'VE CHANGED, PAIN DOES THAT TO PEOPLE.
